TRANSLINK
Belfast in bloom, powered by Metro Zero.
The Brief
We were brought on board by our friends at Elevator, Translink’s PR agency, to create a high-impact CGI FOOH moment for the launch of the Metro Zero electric bus fleet. The goal was to bring the campaign’s Green Goodness message to life in a bold and visually unexpected way, something that would stand out on social media and speak to Translink’s eco-conscious direction. The creative needed to feel vibrant, optimistic, and a clear step away from traditional public transport advertising.

The Process
We worked with Elevator, Translink’s PR agency, to explore how we could turn the ‘Metro Zero' message into a stand-out CGI moment. The goal was to create something organic and uplifting, an explosion of colour and life that visually captured the positive impact of the Metro Zero fleet. With strong brand guidelines in place, we built a CGI takeover that stayed true to the campaign’s identity while delivering a fresh, unexpected twist.
Storyboard & Filming
Before filming, we developed a detailed storyboard to map out how the CGI wildflower trail would interact with the real-world environment. This helped the team align on timing, angles, and the scale of the animation. Once approved, we filmed on location in Belfast city centre. The focus was capturing clean, natural footage that would allow our CGI elements to blend seamlessly into the scene, keeping lighting and composition consistent for a realistic final result.
Modelling & Animation
Instead of modelling the bus, we captured it in-camera as it passed through Belfast city centre, specifically timing our base footage to coincide with a real-life Metro Zero vehicle driving past City Hall. The animation was built entirely around that moment. We created a wildflower trail using custom particle simulations, with flowers bursting up from the ground in sync with the bus’s movement. The animation was designed to feel organic and uplifting, visually echoing the environmental impact of zero-emissions transport.
Rendering & Post Production
Once animated, the scene was rendered with accurate lighting, reflections, and ambient effects to sit convincingly within the real-world footage. Colour grading, compositing, and subtle motion enhancements brought the piece together, resulting in a seamless and visually joyful social asset that delivered strong engagement.
